DC Favourites

Since not every adventure got its own blog post, I decided to do a photo round-up of my two week adventure in DC. So here you go, some of my favourite Instagram and other photos from the trip. You may have seen some of the photos already, but there’s no harm in seeing them again. Enjoy!

It was much colder than I had anticipated on this nighttime monument tour, but it was worth the numb fingers and toes.

View of the Washington Monument and the reflecting pool.

Camouflage Couture prom dresses? A quick stop in Loehman’s to view the prom dresses with Ashwini’s sister turned into this.

Prom dress fashion has certainly changed since my graduation in 2004.
And a trip to the zoo revealed the best meerkat performance ever!

Since the Washington Nationals Opening Day fell on a Monday, I couldn’t drag any of the usual suspects with me to the game. I walked up to Navy Yard and walked along the waterfront at Yards Park before returning to the house via the Park. At least I got close enough to feel the excitement!

Enjoying German beer and döner at Döner Bistro in Adams Morgan.
Tuesday’s amazing dinner outing was at Farmers Fishers Bakers at the Georgetown waterfront. The restaurant recently re-opened so they’re still working out the kinks in the service. So even though we had to wait for what seemed like forever on empty stomachs, the food was delicious. Free dessert? Yes, please!

In the search for cherry blossoms, I found two.

So I always knew that the markings on the ground at the Navy Memorial formed a map of the world, but I had never really paid attention to it. This time, I decided to look for the Caribbean and I found Grenada! Can you see us?

So what makes a great Friday night in DC? I’ll have to say that waffles and wine should be quite high on the list. After seeing Jurassic Park in 3D, we decided against a dance party and opted for something a little more relaxed. (Does this mean we’re getting old?!) We went to Tryst Coffeehouse and Lounge for drinks, but with waffles on the menu, how could I not?

The weather in DC was quite disappointing for the majority of my trip. It was cold and never really felt like Spring until my last day — just in time for the Drink the District Wine Festival!

This one’s my favourite. 🙂
